Job Description

Principal Cloud Solution Architect (CSA) – Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (Technical)

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Cloud Solution Architect (CSA) with deep technical expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and strong experience across Dynamics AX (on premises) and D365 F&O (cloud). You will act as the technical authority for enterprise ERP solutions—owning end to end solution architecture, guiding technical design decisions, and leading modernisation initiatives from AX to D365 F&O.
This is a customer-facing role where you’ll work closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into secure, scalable, upgrade-safe solutions aligned with best practices.
Language requirement
• English: fluent (mandatory)
• Plus fluency in: Spanish (additional languages are a plus)

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership
• Own the end-to-end technical solution architecture for Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations implementations; act as the technical decision authority, defining architecture patterns, trade-offs, and standards.
• Lead architecture reviews, design assurance, and technical governance to ensure quality outcomes.
• Ensure solutions meet requirements for performance, scalability, security, availability, and compliance.
Migration & Modernisation (AX → D365 F&O)
• Lead technical architecture for Dynamics AX to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations migration and modernisation programmes.
• Define extensibility/customisation and integration strategies aligned with cloud and upgrade-safe principles.
• Oversee data migration and validation using Data Management Framework (DMF) and related tooling.
Extensibility, Development Architecture & DevOps
• Provide architectural guidance for custom development using X++ and Visual Studio, enforcing extensibility-first principles to ensure maintainability.
• Define and govern CI/CD, branching strategies, and release management using Azure DevOps or GitHub.

Integration & Cloud Architecture

  • Design and govern integrations using OData, Dual-write, Business Events, Azure Logic Apps, Power Platform, and related integration approaches.
    • Define synchronous/asynchronous integration patterns with a focus on resiliency and security; apply cloud-native architecture principles and understand the impact of Azure services on ERP solutions.
    Security, Compliance & Operations
    • Design and review security architecture including role-based security and Segregation of Duties (SoD); ensure alignment with enterprise security and regulatory requirements.
    • Support operational readiness using Lifecycle Services (LCS), monitoring, diagnostics, and release/lifecycle planning.
    Customer Engagement & Delivery Collaboration
    • Translate complex technical requirements into clear solution options and technical designs; communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Mentor delivery teams and provide technical leadership across cross-functional workstreams.

    Required Technical Expertise
    • Extensive experience with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Dynamics AX (on premises) in enterprise environments.
    • Proven experience as a technical architect/lead on complex ERP engagements, ideally multi-legal entity and multi-country deployments.
    • Strong knowledge of D365 F&O architecture, data model, and extensibility patterns.
    • Strong SDLC and lifecycle management capability, including LCS and Azure DevOps (or similar).
    • Strong integration experience across ERP landscapes, including DMF and Microsoft integration tooling.
    • Excellent analytical/problem-solving skills and strong written/verbal communication skills.
    • Customer-facing/consulting experience and ability to drive technical discussions and outcomes.
Priority domain expertise (must have depth in at least one)
    • Dynamics 365 Commerce, OR
    • On-premises/hybrid AX solutions and modernisation, OR
    • Dynamics 365 Project Operations (advantage).
    Nice to have
    • Ability to also cover Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management topics to support end-to-end Finance + Operations programmes.
    • Dynamics 365 F&O certifications (admin/development) and/or other relevant Microsoft certifications.
    • Experience with reporting/analytics tooling such as Power BI.
