Individual applicants residing in the US only
About the role
We're looking for a Tax Prep Intern to join our team in a full-time, career-track capacity. This isn't a traditional internship — it's a specialized role for high-potential accounting students (Bachelor's or Master's) or recent grads who want to launch a career at the intersection of tax and AI. You'll work alongside our full-time tax team doing real preparation work while getting hands-on exposure to the automation tools reshaping how tax gets done. Strong performance can lead to a salaried Tax Prep position upon degree completion and progress toward CPA licensure.
What you'll do
- Tax Preparation: Prepare federal and state tax returns across a variety of entity types, including 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120S, 1120, and 990.
- Document Review: Organize and review client tax documents for accuracy and completeness; identify and resolve discrepancies before they reach the preparer.
- Data & Workpapers: Assist with data cleanup and workpaper preparation using Excel.
- AI & Automation: Learn and actively use our automation tools to support compliance workflows and reduce manual entry — this is core to how we operate, not an afterthought.
- Team Support: Keep client data organized and filing-ready so the senior team can move fast.
Qualifications
- Education: Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting
- CPA Track: Clear intent to sit for the CPA exam and obtain licensure
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable learning new software quickly; proficient in Excel and Adobe Acrobat
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with consistent follow-through on recurring tasks
- Availability: Full-time availability Monday–Friday during standard business hours; no competing job or academic commitments during working hours
- Bonus: Familiarity with QuickBooks Online (QBO) or professional tax software such as CCH Axcess
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on tax experience in a rapidly growing startup environment.
- Direct mentorship from experienced CPAs and industry professionals.
- Exposure to the latest tax technology tools and automated workflows.
- Potential for future full-time opportunities based on performance and business needs.
