The role
Job description
We are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager for one of our international maritime clients. Reporting to the Supply Chain Leader, this role will oversee end-to-end procurement activities, lead a team of buyers, and support vessel operations through effective supplier management and procurement strategies. The successful candidate will bring at least 10 years of relevant procurement experience within the maritime, offshore, or related industries, along with strong leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills. Experience driving process improvements, cost optimisation initiatives, and procurement governance will be highly valued.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and oversee the full procurement cycle, from requisition and sourcing through to purchase order issuance, delivery, and invoice resolution.
- Ensure procurement activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
- Manage and mentor the procurement team, ensuring service levels, performance targets, and operational objectives are achieved.
- Partner closely with technical, marine, and operational stakeholders to support vessel requirements and business needs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliable service delivery.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, supplier consolidation initiatives, and procurement best practices.
- Support inventory planning and material availability to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Monitor procurement performance, analyse spending trends, and prepare reports for management review.
- Maintain accurate supplier records and conduct periodic supplier evaluations.
- Resolve supplier performance issues and support contract negotiations where required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency, controls, and systems.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of any procurement-related findings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Maritime Studies, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 8–10 years of procurement experience within the maritime, offshore, energy, or related industries, including team leadership responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract administration, and procurement best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; experience with ERP or procurement systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Well-organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
