Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (PHP/Symfony)

Location: Remote – Latin America (Working Spanish Hours)

Type of Contract: Contractor | Remote

Salary Range: $3,000 - $4,000 USD/month

We are seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in PHP, Symfony 6.4, and modern software architecture to join our client's growing team. You will play a key role in designing, building, testing, and deploying dynamic web applications using scalable, maintainable engineering practices. Your work will directly impact software quality, delivery speed, and the reliability of business-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop dynamic web applications using Symfony 6.4, PHP 8.1, and NodeJS v22.
• Apply established design patterns, development best practices, Domain-Driven Design, and Hexagonal Architecture in solution design and implementation.
• Produce clear technical documentation, including code documentation, architecture diagrams, and solution flow diagrams.
• Build and maintain integrations and event-driven workflows using AWS Lambda, AWS SNS, and AWS SQS.
• Write and optimize queries for MariaDB, Redis, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, while leveraging modern ORM tools like Doctrine or Eloquent.
• Develop, run, and maintain automated tests, including unit, integration, UI, and REST API automation using PHP Unit and Playwright.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes to ensure smooth development, testing, and release cycles across the project infrastructure.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Proven experience using established software design patterns and engineering best practices in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of Domain-Driven Design and Hexagonal Architecture.
• Demonstrated experience developing dynamic web applications with Symfony 6.4.
• Proficiency in PHP 8.1 and familiarity with key third-party libraries, frameworks, and development tools.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and AWS SNS/SQS.
• Practical experience with NodeJS v22, OpenSearch, Docker, and modern ORM systems such as Doctrine or Eloquent.
• Strong testing background, including PHP Unit, unit and integration testing, code quality improvements, and Playwright-based UI and REST API automation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience improving application performance, maintainability, and overall software quality through refactoring and optimization.
• Familiarity with event-driven and distributed system design.
• Experience working in teams with established CI/CD and deployment processes.
• Exposure to cloud-native development and containerized environments.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly through written documentation and diagrams.
