Overview
AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee-owned federal contractor, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, integrate, and maintain secure, modern software solutions in a complex federal environment in support our CBP customer.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in front-end development, cloud platforms, enterprise integration, database design, and DevSecOps, along with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer at AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will:
- Develop and enhance responsive web applications using frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue
- Convert functional and design requirements into scalable, accessible, and maintainable software solutions
- Integrate applications with REST APIs, enterprise services, and backend data sources
- Support deployments across cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud, or Oracle Cloud
- Configure and manage cloud services including compute, storage, networking, identity and access management, and monitoring
- Implement secure authentication, authorization, and application security controls
- Apply cloud and infrastructure concepts such as virtual networks, load balancers, and cloud storage services to support reliable and scalable applications
- Build and support Power Pages solutions integrated with Dataverse and related enterprise platforms
- Design and optimize relational databases, queries, and supporting data structures
- Develop and maintain data access layers, stored procedures, scripts, and automated build, test, and deployment pipelines
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define requirements, assess technical approaches, and deliver high-quality solutions
- Communicate technical issues, recommendations, and solution designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Active CBP BI or Top Secret clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required for the purpose of obtaining and maintaining a U.S. security clearance
- 10+ years of experience in software development, architecture, or engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field; Master’s degree preferred
- Experience integrating multiple technologies and systems
- Experience with one or more major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud, or Oracle Cloud
- Knowledge of best practices related to Agile, CI/CD, software development, and unit testing
- Understanding of Unified Data principles or enterprise data integration concepts
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
Helpful Qualifications
- Experience supporting DHS or CBP programs
- Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, Microsoft technologies, software engineering, or DevSecOps
Pay Transparency Statement
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $120,000.00/Yr. - USD $150,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
