Backed by the Gates Foundations and the European Commission, SpotLab was founded in 2018, with the mission to create trustworthy AI to improve healthcare for everyone everywhere, from blood cancers to neglected tropical diseases.
At SpotLab we are seeking a Business Development Lead to drive our AI oncology solutions to the market, particularly our pioneering product MEDULAI for blood cancer diagnosis. You will spearhead the design of new AI business models with scalable health impact and revenue potential. Additionally, you will develop innovative market access strategies and create new markets for cutting-edge AI-powered products.
The Business Development Lead will be reporting directly to the CEO.
Job responsabilities
Identify and develop new business opportunities in the med-tech sector and clinical providers, with a focus on establishing distribution agreements with med-tech companies, specifically those specializing in microscopy scanners and laboratory information systems (LIS).
Drive the design and negotiation of strategic agreements, data license agreements, intellectual property, IT deployment, scientific performance, budget issues, regulations, and results sharing.
Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with clients and strategic partners.
Contribute to the design and implementation of product commercial strategy, including market analysis, customer segmentation and pricing strategy.
Promote our solutions within the digital pathology space.
Translate complex AI value into powerful, persuasive messages that resonate with every stakeholder. You'll develop compelling communication materials that propel product promotion and commercial success.
Collaborate with internal teams (Technology, Clinical, Operations) to align product development with market needs.
Background & Experience:
Life sciences (e.g., Pharma, Biology, other disciplines) or scientific-technical background (engineering, mathematics, other); business profiles with a strong passion for healthcare will also be considered.
Experience in med-tech companies, pharma, hospital environments, or similar settings, particularly in commercial, clinical business development, or relationship management roles, will be valuable.
Experience in managing and negotiating commercial contracts, specifically in the medical software industry, will be a plus.
MBA or similar business management education is appreciated but not required.
Knowledge & Skills:
Any knowledge in these areas is a plus: artificial intelligence in medical applications, digital pathology, microscopy and medical image analysis, clinical oncology/hematology, or international quality/regulatory standards (IVDR, ISO 13485).
Good communication skills in Spanish and English.
Ability to transform complex ideas into clear, high-impact presentations and polished marketing materials.
Relationship-building abilities and willingness to work in multidisciplinary environments.
